Armand hails from the northern suburbs & is what we’d call a jack of all trades and a master of many. ADV is a drummer, singer, guitarist, and bassist, currently playing lead guitar for the Keanan Eksteen Band. Before joining the Keanan Eksteen band, he got swooped up into the music industry at the age of 12, and as the years went by, he performed with Haiven, banged drums for Bob & The Banned & even pocketed the title of certified sound engineer.
ADV grew up listening to Elvis, the Doors, Depeche Mode & Nirvana to name a few. In his own words “I’m glad I don’t have the most convenient life; it just fuels my creativity. Even when I was still a child, I knew that music is what got my heart racing and is what I wanted to do for the rest of my existence.”
Jarid got his Western Province colours for chess at age 13, but that wasn’t enough, with music in his veins and rhythm in his soul his debut drumming gig was his high schools musical. And my, how things have changed, in the years following high school Jarid could be found jamming with SixSecondSurgery and Red State when not studying sound engineering.
Fast forward a couple of years and Jarid came to be known for managing Cape Town’s iconic rehearsal and recording studio Kill City Blues from 2014 – 2020. Jarid has been on three national tours, as a roadie and then a sound engineer. Jarid is currently the drummer for the Keanan Eksteen Band.
